The integrated development of cultural tourism in western China has blown a new clarion call. On September 26, at the 2021 International Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports Conference and the 16th Guizhou Tourism Industry Development Conference held in Tongren, Guizhou Province, China, the Sichuan-Chongqing-Guizhou “West Triangle” Cultural Tourism Cooperation Alliance was established. It will build a platform, help integrate resources, and promote the cultural and tourism cooperation for the three cities.
Sichuan, Chongqing and Guizhou are closely connected in geography, so they have natural advantages in cooperation. For example, Chongqing has a hot summer, while Guizhou embraces a cool summer, therefore, every year at least 150,000 Chongqing residents come to Tongzi which is located in the north of Guizhou and near to Chongqing to escape from the hot temperature.
From the perspective of the development conditions of the cultural tourism industry, Sichuan, Chongqing and Guizhou, with their beautiful natural sceneries and rich historical and cultural relics, are all major tourist provinces (cities) in western China. Besides, the three provinces (cities) are unique in topography, natural landscapes and cultural environments. Guizhou, known as the “the province of mountain parks “, has Karst landform in Libo , Yuntai Mountain in Shibing, and the ecological green island Fanjing Mountain, Danxia landform in Chishui and many other distinct natural landscapes. Meanwhile, the colorful ethnic minority folk activities provide a dramatic backdrop to its attractive landscape.
The rapid development of tourism markets of the three cities has laid a solid foundation for the building of the “West Triangle” of cultural tourism. In addition, the strong willingness to jointly promote the integration and development of culture and tourism has been a super glue for the gradual formation of the “Western Triangle”.
In April 2020, along with the operation of Chengdu-Chongqing-Guizhou high-speed loop railway, the cooperation of cultural tourism among the three areas have embarked on a fast lane of development, which means tourists can travel in the plains of Chengdu, the mountain city Chongqing, and the plateau of Guiyang in a convenient and fast way only with a loop train.
Based on the current situation, the three cities have reached a deep consensus that the prospects for the joint development of the Sichuan-Chongqing-Guizhou cultural and tourism industries are quite broad. In the new era of high-speed rail, accelerating the realization of the superposition effect “1+1+1>3” will be the top priority in the next step.
In the near future, with the establishment of cooperation mechanisms like the Sichuan-Chongqing-Guizhou “West Triangle” Cultural Tourism Cooperation Alliance, the three provinces and cities will continue to deepen regional cultural tourism cooperation and jointly enhance the influence of regional cultural tourism brands.
